Radiohead - The King Of Limbs

This weeks' playlist is inspired by Radiohead's new album. In case you haven't heard, Radiohead’s new album, The King of Limbs, is now available for purchase through Radiohead’s website – a full 24 hours before schedule.

The world’s first “newspaper album,” which is how Radiohead has labeled this release, costs $48 with an MP3 download ($53 if you opt for the WAV version) but returns a lot of value for the price: two 10-inch vinyl records, a CD and a lot of artwork.

Still, Radiohead is releasing the new album through its website, which is now open for pre-orders.

The reason for the early release is simple: everything in its right place, so Radiohead decided there’s no need to wait an extra day.

Heads Will Roll

I dont know how many of you got a chance to see the after Super Bowl Glee episode last night, but it was pretty incredible. The football team and the Glee kids get into costume and perform a mash-up of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ “Heads Will Roll.”

After watching this I had to pull out my old Yeah Yeah Yeah albums and have a listen. The mashup was awesome, but it definitely left me wanting to listen to more of the original. So, this week's playlist is built on the style of the Yeah Yeah Yeah's hit Heads Will Roll. The playlist includes some similar artists like The Ting Tings, The xx, and Santigold. What else you would include?

A few months later....

This weeks playlist is inspired by a few songs I cant stop listening to recently. Let's start with Wrong Platform by Pretty Lights. 

Pretty Lights is the musical vision of the ultra-versatile Colorado based producer Derek Vincent Smith, accompanied in the live setting by drummer, Cory Eberhard. The music is the product of digital sampling and crosses many genres, forming a combination of glitchy hip-hop beats, buzzing synth lines, and vintage funk and soul samples. 

The rest of the playlist is made up of Ratatat, The Black Ghosts, and Air. Can ya dig it? What else would you include? How many of these bands do you know about?

It has to start somewhere....

This is something new I have decided to invest some of my time in. I listen to alot of music. I try to listen something new everyday. There is enough music out there for a lifetime, but a lifetime is not enough for all of the music. So I have decided to start sharing some of the music I find intermingled with some of the music I already love. I hope that you enjoy these collections and share some new music with me in return.
